Germany’s Internet Website

Not a country where IT services are the cheapest, unlike in other cases with companies that build websites in Germany. Unfortunately, there is no great variety, but as it says, “it didn’t hit the poor,” so even a thousand EUR is nothing for them. For Poles living in Germany, despite earning in Germany, they usually don’t perform the most expensive tasks, and every penny counts.

What does a website cost in Germany?

The question is quite difficult because it’s like asking, “How much do I have to pay for buying a car?” – No, the question sounds absurd because you can buy a used iPhone for as little as a used car, but you can also spend several million euros on a car, all depending on needs and budget. It’s no different with websites; the cost of a website is dependent on many factors.

Mr. Henio, hydraulics, doesn’t need a website costing 2 thousand euros because it’s his monthly income, and he simply can’t afford such an expense. Therefore, it’s logical that Mr. Henio working in Germany as a hydraulic will look for a simple website called a business card, and most often won’t think of going to a German company specializing in building websites with this problem. Instead, he’ll search in Google for a Polish community or directly from Poland because Polish IT companies are no worse than German ones but are certainly cheaper (although it’s changing slowly).

How much can such a website cost?

This depends on how Mr. Henio tends to compromise; if he has a small one, the final amount may range from 1500-2000 zlotys. Compromise-based solutions include websites built using free CMS and free templates – this will cost literally a few hundred zlotys.

A website business card with a paid template usually exceeds 1 thousand zlotys (at the time of writing this article, May 15, 2022), because you have to add 300-400 zlotys for licenses on the template thanks to which the Mr. Henio’s hydraulic website will stand out significantly from its competitors.

In the worst-case scenario, Mr. Henio will be in a situation where he wants to be unique – unfortunately, the cost of such a website can exceed 2000 zlotys, we are talking about a simple website called business card, a one-page website, literally “a long page divided into sections” – Unfortunately, good programmers usually earn more than IT directors (their bosses), and there are many people in this position on the market, so it’s easy to replace them, which is why their salaries are far from what programmers earn. Programmers can choose projects, this work seeks them out, not the other way around.

The lower the price, the higher the risk; in IT too – if the price is suspiciously low, it usually ends with a scam, don’t think you’ll get your money back. In my daily practice, clients come to me who have given away several thousand zlotys in vain “because it was cheaper” – unfortunately, at some point, it turned out that “the IT specialist/scammer” had run off with the cash or “IT specialist” wanted to build a website but lacked skills, mainly for more complex structures like online stores. Sometimes people who don’t have experience take on building an internet store for a client from Germany without taking into account German specifics and necessary integrations; usually, they give up on the project but don’t return deposits because they know no one will waste their time or money on a lawyer, a trip to Poland just to get back a thousand or two. Unfortunately, such cases damage the IT industry, but people are responsible for creating these types of cases themselves by looking for the lowest possible price.

Establishing an internet website in Germany

There’s nothing like setting up websites; you can set up a hat, a cloak, but not a website, a website is built/programmed – it’s a highly specialized service that’s why it costs as much as it does. The higher the complexity level, the more expensive.

You can’t negotiate prices here; I’ll buy one and give 30% less – no, this strategy works with commodity purchases but not services, especially high-specialized ones like IT services.
