At least a few times a day, I talk to people who plan to build an online store and often meet those who have already built one but are still focused on its visual appearance. They think that if the store looks good, it will automatically attract more customers and increase sales.

However, the brutal truth is that customers are primarily concerned with prices. A good-looking website does not guarantee success. In fact, it’s a myth that has been perpetuated by inexperienced entrepreneurs who have not yet learned about online marketing.

The first condition for an online store to succeed is to offer products that potential customers want to buy. The second condition is the price of these products and shipping costs. If your prices are higher than those of your competitors, even by a small amount, customers will go elsewhere.

As the owner of an online store, you may be excited about its appearance, but this is not what matters most to customers. They care about prices and shipping costs.

A website’s design can impress its creator, who wants to show off their skills to potential clients. However, it’s the functionality, user experience, and efficiency of the online store that matter most to customers. If a website is too flashy or difficult to navigate, it may scare away potential buyers, even if they are interested in your products.

In reality, an online store is just a tool for selling products efficiently and effectively. It should not be treated as a work of art that needs to be admired by others. The focus should be on offering good-quality products at reasonable prices.
