Content
We don’t have any new information on this topic. Google still rewards websites with valuable content that attracts users and keeps them engaged. Unfortunately, many companies outsource their content creation to copywriters. I think this is a bad idea because no one can write better about your business than you or your employees who are not only writers but also experts in your field.
Google assumes that if a website makes it difficult for its users, it doesn’t deserve to be ranked high in search engines. Our website must be readable on any device with a small screen and easy to use.
User Experience
The experience of our website’s user has an impact on many factors, including the ergonomics of using our website, comfortable and clear navigation, fast-loading subpages, useful articles on our blog that keep readers engaged for longer. These are all ranking factors for Google search engines. What is good for users is also good for Google, and if something is good for Google, you will be rewarded with free traffic and higher rankings.
Website Speed
First of all, website speed is crucial because it’s one of the most important ranking factors for Google in 2023. Don’t overload your website with uncompressed large images or excessively embed content from other websites like YouTube because each embedded element significantly slows down page loading time on user devices. Remember that people using smartphones have very limited attention span and can quickly switch to another website, including that of your competitors.
This is not like browsing the internet on a computer or laptop where you open 20 tabs in your browser and wait for each one to load. Smartphone users are usually in a hurry, taking short breaks, and they don’t have time to waste on slow websites. They can’t easily view multiple open tabs, so they only open one website at a time and if it loads slowly, they click the back button and try another one. You have 4-6 seconds before you lose potential customers’ attention. Therefore, believe me – artificial savings on building your website or choosing a cheap hosting service are not worth it because losing potential clients due to slow website loading times can be financially devastating.
Content is KING
In 2023, content is still important, but it’s not just about publishing one new article per month or every six months. To maintain high interest from Google search engines, you need to publish new content on your website much more frequently. A minimum of one well-researched and long-quality article per week is a must.
Moreover, if you have articles whose content has become outdated over time, you should update them because Google pushes outdated content to the bottom of search engine rankings. Updating old posts will attract both Google’s attention and readers who can become paying customers – remember that.
Bad Advice
Finally, here’s some bad advice: there are many tools based on machine learning algorithms, which are essentially generators of content or text. Many companies use these tools, but I think they’re not worth it because Google’s algorithm is becoming more sophisticated by the day. Ask yourself this question: do you want to have a foundation that will allow you to build further and create the snowball effect in the long run, or are you considering risking everything with each new update of the algorithm?
In my opinion, it’s not worth using these tools because they’ll eventually undermine your business foundations. It’s better to create content yourself, following one simple rule: write for readers, not search engines. This type of content can generate customer inquiries over time and convince people to hire you based on your expertise – which is what matters most.
