Why Does a Website Implementation Cost 500 zł in One Company and 5,000 zł in Another?

Why does implementing something like an online store cost 2,500 zł in one company and 20,000 zł in another? Good question.

Everyone who is not familiar with web design assumes that a company offering to implement a website for 5,000 zł is just ripping them off. But it’s not necessarily so…

Why is a website project like art?

The construction of a website is the same, there’s PHP, CSS, JavaScript at the bottom, more or less sophisticated techniques, special effects, etc., but you can’t compare websites costing 500 and 5,000 zł on this level. E-commerce requires investment, the difference in special effects can reach 500-1000 zł, but something that is an art is hard to value with such categories.

The implementation of a website that will take someone’s breath away is a task for an artist, not a programmer. A programmer can program any functionality and special effects, but it’s the artist/graphic designer who can arrange it so that it creates what we call an “ah” or “oh” effect (:

You can commission a website implementation and pay 500 zł for it, but compare this to a real office – the analogy is quite apt. A company sets up an office for tens of thousands of zł, even in small companies. If we want to set up an office with style, we hire a designer, another few thousand zł. Now look at it, a website is like a virtual office, visited by living people, just like a conventional office.

If you think that buying a website for 500 or 1000 zł will give the same effect as setting up a traditional office, you’re mistaken. People are the same; they look at a website just like they do at a traditional office of the company they want to buy something from. A mediocre website is like an office in the form of a shed, chairs in the form of fruit crates and a desk in the form of a wooden beam.

Unfortunately, most people treat virtual offices with disdain in Poland, then they wonder why the effectiveness of internet advertising, on which they often spend not infrequently several tens of thousands of zł per month, is mediocre. It can’t be otherwise; a client entering such a website will not buy anything from you seeing mediocrity in the virtual office and gets an automatic impression of the quality of services offered.

Implementing an attractive and professional website is like art – it must be professional, aesthetically pleasing, intuitive to use so that a customer becomes interested enough to reach the contact form.
