How much does a simple website cost?
300 zł, 500 zł, or maybe 700 zł?
The days when you could buy a service like building a website for 300-700 zł are long gone. Today, a license for a high-quality commercial template can cost 400 zł, not to mention the cost of buying a domain, hosting, SSL certificate, and the website construction service itself.
In Google, people who search for “simple websites” usually enter phrases like:

- How to make a simple website
- Simple website HTML
- Simple website
- Simple business website
As a result of such a search, usually various tutorials appear on how to build a simple website yourself. However, these are not guides for beginners who have nothing to do with technology but rather for people interested in computer science, wanting to enter the business of building websites at the lowest possible cost or sometimes offers from companies that claim “simple website” under the pretext of being affordable, but unfortunately, they quickly turn out to be much more expensive than we thought because we can get caught up in a toxic service with recurring payments without which the site cannot function normally.
I recommend approaching such company’s offers with a rather large degree of skepticism and carefully verify them by expecting a written or email confirmation that paying X for this “simple” website will be the only payment (apart from hosting and domain renewal) we will have to make cyclically.
Such a “simple website” also requires maintenance activities which, depending on the technology used to build it, can be simple or force us to use paid services from the contractor – this is often overlooked because most people look at the initial price only without knowing that these seemingly cheapest offers often hide the need for ongoing, recurring payments.
We build websites that do not depend on the contractor, and as a result, such solutions are slightly more expensive than those offered by companies that do not tell their clients about the ongoing costs associated with server-side maintenance – where have we seen this before? Life is full of situations like these where people in a hurry to save money don’t look at the potential risks involved and often it turns out that saving on the initial cost means paying much more in the first months after launching the site.
Somehow, most people think that building a website on a template is as simple as 1-2-3 and click-click-and-it’s-done. I suggest you try to build one yourself. Every day, I meet clients who either fell for an unscrupulous company that promised to be the cheapest but didn’t have much experience in building websites or who came across a company that offered the lowest price on the market but turned out to have additional recurring costs associated with server-side maintenance of the site – the market is full of such manipulations, so let’s not just look at the price – let’s ask ourselves if we can handle the website panel and whether we will be able to update and change it ourselves without hiring someone.
Sometimes, even the “investor” (to use a construction industry term) gets caught up in building a simple website using a template or some kind of creator, often with disastrous results because the final product does not look like what they expected.
There are solutions that can be built for 1500 zł, it will be an esthetic, modern one-page website, ideal for small service companies whose offer is not too extensive, of course, it won’t be ideal for positioning such a site in Google, but something a bit more complex can be bought for a little more money that will be suitable for positioning. Another price will be the cost of building a complex functional service for a large corporation where prices can be staggering, often exceeding 100 thousand zł.
The myth of “simple website” still exists in people’s awareness, unfortunately, simplicity does not translate to less work on the part of the computer programmer, so let’s not expect miracles – no one will work for free.
