If you don’t have a website yet and are wondering how much it costs to build a multilingual website, the good news is that since you don’t have a website yet, you have the opportunity to use several relatively cheap solutions, including one free option.

Currently, the best possible CMS (content management system) that can be launched is WordPress. You should avoid custom solutions created from scratch (unless you are a corporate owner and the cost of your company’s website does not matter …), as it significantly limits your options for services related to your website, which may not be the cheapest.

In the case of a website built on WordPress, you have two options:

1. Free Google translator that can be installed in 2 clicks and immediately enjoy the benefits of a multilingual site, Google translator supports dozens of languages that can be enabled or disabled by yourself
or

2. WPML – currently the best language plugin for WordPress, the license costs $99 (currently about PLN 470) on this basis you can build any number of language structures within your website, the advantage of this solution is that additional language structures are filled with your texts or texts obtained from a translator.

The advantage of option 1 is that it’s free, you can install and enable it in less than 30 seconds and it works immediately, unfortunately Google translations are not perfect and your potential client seeing such a translation (assuming it’s their native language) will certainly suspect that it’s a translator and your company may not be doing them any favors (if they don’t speak their native language) – this may be the assumption of a potential client, therefore I personally advise against using this solution in professional applications, such a website does not inspire confidence.

Solution 2 is not free but gives the possibility to fill additional language structures with professional translations, think if losing a customer who could bring you several dozen or even hundreds of thousands of euros in revenue is worth paying $99 for licenses plus another amount for translating your website’s content by a translator?

A multilingual website with professionally developed texts will inspire much greater confidence than a multilingual website based on Google Translator.

The advantage of WPML is also that, for example, having a German language structure, you can configure this module so that when a German client enters your website, the website automatically serves them the German version, i.e. they don’t have to click on the Polish flag in your website’s menu to change the language to German, only the German version of your website will open for them, this is a huge advantage.
