Warning: You Need an Online Website

An online website is something every company needs, but not everyone needs a very elaborate site for a few or several thousand zlotys. Some people are satisfied with a simple “business card” type of website. However, most people asking us about building a website put the greatest emphasis on price and say that they need a simple website, but is such an approach right?

Irrespective of whether it’s a business card style site or a more developed one, the task of a website is to aggregate internet traffic and direct it to the contact form, contact details so as to attract orders. How can you get traffic on your website?

Traffic on your website can be obtained in various ways, some being cheaper than others.

• SEO – positioning in search engines – is the cheapest and most effective advertising method for a website in the long run (there are no click limits, you don’t pay per click or view, but rather for the work of an SEO agency that achieves traffic)

• SEM – direct payment to companies such as Google for each click on the ad, paying per entry onto your site even for several zlotys, this is a much more expensive advertising method than SEO.

• SOCIAL MEDIA – free (very time-consuming) or paid advertising similar in operation to SEM, you pay the company Facebook for each click, although in SEM and Social Media there is also an option to account for views, but it’s almost impractical for small and medium-sized companies.

Let’s go back to our business card site. By definition it’s a very simple website that contains basic information about the company, offer, and contact section. Most often it’s a one-page type of site divided into sections. Such a site has no chance of entering organic Google search results that could result in some traffic from this source because search engines feed on text content, high-quality content, and they favor sites with higher positions for specific keywords related to the company’s offer, which translates to more traffic.

A business card site by necessity lacks these features, there is no room for integrating a blog which should be an integral part of any website that wants to position itself in search engines. Without this integration, achieving any traffic at all is almost impossible.

The cost depends on how developed the site is and the price of building it is the sum of the time spent by the developer.

Choosing an extremely cheap business card type of website as a representation of your company online means you are sacrificing solutions 2 and 3 for getting internet traffic. Unfortunately, saving money on building a website (these are perceived savings) will cost you much more – multiple times more – in advertising to attract any traffic that could result in orders.

The price of a business card type of website is around 1000-1500 zlotys netto, and a simple site with a blog is priced between 2000-2500 zlotys. Let’s calculate this for you: assume one click on your company services’ query in Google costs 3 zlotys. Now let’s assume that to get just one phone call or form submission you need at least 50 visits, and also let’s assume that only one out of ten clients will decide to buy from you.

50 x 3 = 150 zlotys spent on Google advertising and one phone call (one client buys from you in 1/10 cases) multiply this by 1500 zlotys (the cost of a business card site already), how many orders do you want to get per month? Five, ten or twenty?

Five x 1500 = 7500 zlotys (cost of one order)

Ten x 1500 = 15,000 zlotys (cost of ten orders)

Twenty x 1500 = 30,000 zlotys (cost of twenty orders)

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

The cost of a website with a blog is 2500 zlotys.

The cost of SEO services – from 1000 zlotys per month.

Traffic: practically unlimited and not paid for per entry onto your site.

Consider whether it’s worth saving 1000-1500 zlotys on building a website. Of course, you can think that what I’m writing here is exaggerated because I earn money by building websites or positioning them, but there is no obstacle to checking the “business card” variant – just facts are like this: you spend money and lose much more on advertising in order to attract any traffic which could result in orders. You will also have to spend even more money on building a website that can be positioned in search engines.

We can build both business card type websites and more developed ones suitable for positioning in search engines, we are able to run SEM, SEO or Social Media campaigns.

But our nearly 20-year experience shows that the most cost-effective advertising method is still long-term SEO because it has a wonderful phenomenon called “the snowball effect”: the longer you position your website, the larger traffic it aggregates, and your costs don’t increase like in SEM where to double traffic you have to pay twice as much.
