This is a question often searched in search engines such as Google or BING, from a marketing perspective, I personally think this word has little value because behind this query will be a person who is looking for a cheap way to create their own website independently.
Until recently, it was possible to create a simple website using HTML with the help of some graphic builders like Dreamveawer or free alternatives, or even with notepad or a text editor, websites built in such a way were not impressive, especially today…
Unfortunately, times have changed and such tools are no longer used by amateurs for creating websites due to one reason – responsiveness. Building a responsive website requires good knowledge of CSS.
Creating a website using notepad or a similar tool now requires a lot of knowledge, not only of HTML or PHP but also of CSS.
Of course, there are many companies that offer website creation or online store construction with just a few clicks, but these websites are usually located in their subdomain and therefore have little prestige. Building a website in someone else’s subdomain would look very unprofessional if it were to be a company website.
Free web builders also offer limited options and effects and are not very flexible, they will not allow you to create a modern and visually appealing website.
There are also free CMSs such as WordPress, I agree that it does not require programming skills, you can set up a website in 10 minutes and start filling it with content, but here again comes the problem of functionality and graphical presentation. Free WordPress templates do not impress, if someone is satisfied with this – ok, but I would not recommend rebuilding a free template to suit your needs because it will be very time-consuming and you will not build an effective layout like professionals.
Creating a website using a CMS like WordPress is easy, but it’s just a small part of the work that needs to be done to create a professional solution on this engine that will handle online sales. Unfortunately, many clients think that creating a website is just a few clicks away and therefore they don’t want to pay for such a website from a company that specializes in this field – I’d like to correct this mistake, building the right functionality that cannot be extended with plugins, designing an effective layout and then transferring it to the website structure takes a lot of time – programmer and designer. Creating a custom-made website tailored to the client’s needs is 2-3 weeks of work and that’s for the simplest solution because every detail of such a website must be perfectly matched to the client’s preferences, this cannot be done using standard WordPress and some free template.
Creating a website on the basis of WordPress is very popular today because it makes no sense to reinvent the wheel, better spend your energy on building functionality that the client needs or designing an effective responsive layout rather than building the CMS engine from scratch.
There are companies that use custom-made solutions built from scratch and develop extensions for different clients, but in my opinion a website built on a good CMS like WordPress is more cost-effective and does not limit functionality in any way. The base of WordPress can be used to create any functionality, you just need to know PHP/CSS/JS, every programmer will sit down with such code and know what to do because WordPress is the platform that 20% of all websites are based on today, so there are many people/companies specializing in developing extensions for this CMS.
